UAE NATIONAL APPOINTED AS ME DIRECTOR FOR SRI
LANKA TOURISM PROMOTION BUREAU
- Arabic Version
“Sri Lanka has what it takes to be popular
among Arab travellers” - AL Mansoori
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) announced that it
has appointed UAE National Heba AL Ghais AL Mansoori, as a
Director, to head its Middle East Headquarters.
Ms. AL Mansoori will be in charge of Sri Lanka’s tourism
promotional activities in the Arab markets including
exhibition participation, marketing visits, presentations
and road shows, advertising, brochure distribution, public
relations, as well as familiarization visits to the island
for influential business and travel journalists.
Announcing the appointment, SLTPB Managing Director, Dileep
Mudadeniya said: “Ms Al Mansoori is the most suitable and
qualified person for the job with her extensive experience
in the media and marketing stream in the region and her
track record of working with clients in the travel and
hospitality sector.”
“The tourism industry is one of Sri Lanka’s economic pillars
and we need a dynamic person in the Middle East with the
vision, leadership and capabilities to develop our business
from this important region and enhance our position as a
tropical paradise,” said Mr. Mudadeniya.
A progressive Emirati, Ms Al Mansoori belongs to the young
breed of UAE nationals who are excelling in the media and
marketing stream in recent years. She is an expert in the
marketing communications field with a post graduate degree
in Mass Communications from Alexandria University.
Ms AL Mansoori worked with a mainline Arabic newspaper
before joining a leading publishing house to edit a business
magazine in the UAE. She then moved on to the Middle East
Broadcasting Corporation to acquire some hands on experience
in the broadcast field. Heba is also a senior consultant
with BIZ COM, a leading PR consultancy in the Middle East.
“I am particularly excited about this new assignment and
glad that I am in the position to contribute to the Sri
Lankan tourism industry,” said Ms. AL Mansoori. "In my
previous assignments, I have travelled quite extensively and
come into contact with people from various parts of the
world including Sri Lanka and was quite impressed by the
destination,” she said.
"Sri Lanka is not a hard sell if you can merely get someone
to look at the pictures of the country. It's just four hours
flying time from Dubai and that is an USP," said Ms. Al
Mansoori. "Clearly, Sri Lanka has what it takes to attract
leisure visitors from the Middle East."
Ms. AL Mansoori noted that she will lead a team of
consultants to devise strategies targeting a generation of
Arab travellers using effective and contemporary marketing
measures.
As Director of SLTPB’s Middle East office, she will also
function as the preliminary contact point and media
spokesperson and her offices will operate as the enquiry
processing centre for travel trade companies and tourists in
the region.
