Emicool to invest over AED 2.5 billion in latest infrastructure
Emirates District Cooling Company LLC (Emicool), a joint venture between M’Sharie, a subsidiary of Dubai Investments, and Union Properties PJSC, is in the process of developing and expanding its infrastructure to meet the increased demand for district cooling services in Dubai following the continued construction boom in the emirate.

Emicool, a district cooling service provider involved in the supply of chilled water for residential, commercial and industrial applications, is currently focused on serving two major projects which include the Dubai Investments Park (Green Community Phase 1 &2, Ewan Residences, Dubai Lagoon, Dubai Crown City, the Ritaj residential project, Sh. Essa Development which includes the newly launched Palisades project which is the Middle East’s largest privately funded mixed-use real estate development, and several other residential, commercial and industrial projects involving 250,000 tons of refrigeration. The second project is the Dubai Motor City which also includes residential and commercial projects totaling about 100,000 tons of refrigeration.

To efficiently cater to these two major projects, Emicool is in the process of setting up the required infrastructure including eight different plant rooms ranging from 15,000 RT to 75,000 RT, in addition to a complete underground pipe distribution network, energy transfer stations and completely wireless BTU metering systems worth over AED 2.5 billion which will be invested over a period of three to five years.

Fouad Younan, General Manager, Emicool, said, “The unprecedented property sector boom in Dubai and the rest of the UAE has created tremendous demand for district cooling services and we are proud to address a part of this demand. Our expertise and facilities will enable us to efficiently execute several multi-billion dirham projects within and outside the UAE, we are focused on strengthening our infrastructure to help us successfully undertake any new project. We are also on the lookout for new systems and technologies to optimise existing and future operations and boost efficiency.”

The UAE has the potential to become the largest district cooling market in the world with a demand estimated at almost 10 million tons of refrigeration in the next 10 years. This creates ample opportunities for Emicool to capitalise on the market situation and make use of its technologically advanced facilities.

“Emicool uses the latest technology through international and local consultants as well as suppliers who have in-depth knowledge and experience in district cooling applications. Our aim is to become the preferred provider of reliable, efficient and environment-friendly district cooling services,” said Younan.
