United Ready Mix to supply concrete for Pearl-Qatar Posted: Sunday, July 16, 2006 Doha United Ready Mix, Qatar’s newest concrete producer and supplier, will be one of the largest suppliers of concrete for The Pearl-Qatar, a multi-billion dollar offshore real estate development project. The plant will be located on the construction site of The Pearl-Qatar and will initially start producing 40,000 cu m of concrete per month before rising to more than 70,000 cu m per month in September, officials said.

“We have a total of three plants, one will produce 120 cu m of concrete per hour, while the other two will supply an additional 180 cu m each per hour. In total, production will be more than 75,000 cu m per month,” he added.

In addition to its perfect location on the construction site for The Pearl-Qatar, United Ready Mix has a staff of about 200 people to ensure high quality and timely production. There is also a fleet of 60 concrete truck mixers and about 20 mobile concrete pumps operating.

“The advantage of being located on the site of The Pearl-Qatar is that we are close to our client and we won’t have problems or delays others have when transporting materials to their clients,” said Peter Hottentot, operations manager for United Ready Mix.



Alumco facades for Citadel Tower

Alumco, a specialised aluminium façade contractor and UAE's largest manufacturer, has won a landmark contract to supply a total of 36,500 square metres, worth Dh40 million ($10.89 million), of its aluminum facades to the 44-storied Citadel Tower at Business Bay.

Alumco managing director Samer Barakat said: “The Citadel Tower is another trophy to mark the success of the company as being one of the most trusted companies to supply aluminium facades to the GCC’s hyperactive construction sector.

“As per the deal entered into with the contractor M/S Al Shafar General Contracting, Alumco will supply 27,000 square meters of unitized curtain wall, 6,700 square metre of composite cladding and 2,500 square metre of louver and aluminium screen and 300m of handrails for the Citadel Tower.
