German construction giant comes to Bahrain
MANAMA: German construction giant Gerber Architects plans to set up
its Middle East headquarters in Bahrain, it was revealed yesterday.
Company representatives met with Economic Development Board (EDB)
officials in line with their role to facilitate investment by
international businesses in Bahrain.
The EDB deputy chief executive, Dr Zakaria Ahmed Hejres, received
Gerber Architects owner and founder, Professor Phillip Gerber.
Prof. Gerber is visiting Bahrain to conduct talks with businessmen,
officials and financial establishments in a bid to establish joint
ventures.
He expressed his company's interest in the construction boom in
Bahrain and associated investment opportunities in housing projects
and expansion of the meetings, incentives, conventions and
exhibitions (MICE) sector.
Dr. Zakaria outlined Bahrain's recent economic growth and the
predicted growth for this year and next year, as well as the role of
the private and public sectors in this regard.
He praised the government's investment in construction projects and
highlighted the benefits and facilities that Bahrain offers for new
investors.
Dr. Zakaria said that public and private investment are predicted to
increase in the coming years.
The influx of cash flow in view of high oil prices is encouraging
investment in Bahrain and the Gulf, he said.
"This would lead to more capital for construction projects in
Bahrain," said Dr Zakaria.
