Dr. Mohammed Alshafie
PhD Environmental Engineering,
Head of Environment Section,
Department of Infrastructure and
Environment, DAR AL-OMRAN Planners.

SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Mohammed Alshafie finished his
B.Sc. Degree in Civil engineering at
the University of Jordan in 1996. He
further, obtained his PhD and
Master's Degrees in Environmental
Engineering at McGill University in
Canada. He is currently the head of
environmental section as well as the
business development section at the
Infrastructure Department of DAR AL-OMRAN
Planners Architects Engineers a
leading Jordanian consulting firm.
He further is the Technical Manager
and Head of QC and Construction
Management Department, at Passavant
Roediger Aquatreat, a company
specialized in the design,
construction, operation and
maintenance of water and waste
treatment plants. Between the years
of 2004 and 2006, Dr. Alshafie held
the position of an assistant
professor in the faculty of
engineering, the civil engineering
department at Al-Isra University.
Dr. Alshafie's main areas of
expertise include Sustainable
development, surface and groundwater
contamination with
chemically-complex organic waste,
geoenvironmental engineering, Ground
water modeling, innovative
remediation technologies of
contaminated soil and groundwater,
heat and mass transfer related
issues, and linear and non-linear
optimization techniques.
Dr Alshafie is the recipient of many
honorary awards and scholarships
such as the "Fonds pour la Formation
de Chercheurs et L'aid a la
Recherche (Fonds FCAR)" Scholarship
in 2001 and The "Kenneth Downes
Graduate Award" in 1999.
Dr Alshafie is a member of many
national and international agencies
such as Engineering Without Borders,
EWB, Canadian International
Development Agency, CIDA and the
Jordanian Environment Society. Dr
Alshafie initiated and organized
several conferences on environmental
issues and contributed in many
conferences worldwide, he is also
the author several publications in
international journals.
