Amid this mounting concern, the market for waste management technologies and products in the Middle East is growing rapidly.

Waste and Recycling in Qatar
About 120 million tonnes of waste is produced by the GCC of which little is recycled or even managed. For the first time in the region, an integrated waste management solution has been worked upon. The National Projects Holding Co has signed an agreement with Dubai Industrial City, to establish Dubai Recycling Park, the first fully integrated waste management and recycling park in the Middle East.

Energy Efficient Building a Must in the Gulf States
Residential and commercial buildings in the Gulf currently consume 45 per cent of the energy produced in the region, demanding timely guidelines for sustainable buildings to avert a future energy crisis, said an official at the Emirates Green Building Council (Emirates GBC).

Saudi Telecom wins at Cisco Networkers 2007
Saudi Telecom (STC) has picked up the award for Best Service Provider IP NGN Infrastructure of the Year at the Cisco Networkers Innovation Awards at Cannes last week.

Scrap Tires into Diesel Fuel
The proposed novel technology for thermal processing of wasted rubber (worn tires, out-of-use rubber pieces, etc.) into a fuel mix (subsequently cut into a few fuel types, similar to masut 40, masut 100, furnace oil, and fuel suspension) and technical carbon is underlied by the studies of thermolysis of organic wastes and new technical solutions.
